Why Join CHT?
|
CHT is a professional association—not a union.
We reject militant unionism, collective bargaining, exclusive representation, and disruptive strikes. We believe in local control. CHT members are not required to join state or national organizations or to support their political efforts. CHT has represented HISD educators since 1954.
CHT dues are only $99 per year including liability insurance.
Because CHT members are not required to pay dues to join state and national organizations or to support political action committees, they save hundreds of dollars each year compared to members of other organizations.
CHT provides educators professional liability insurance coverage.
Our policy provides up to $2,000,000 per insured per occurrence/$3,000,000 total per occurrence plus the cost of defense, investigation and legal fees. No educator should be without professional liability protection.
CHT keeps you informed.
Updates and useful information are provided online at www.CHT.org and via periodic e-mail alerts. CHT also publishes a detailed color-coded calendar, which includes paydays, holidays, in-service days, and CHT meeting dates with the current salary schedule printed on back.
CHT hosts member gatherings throughout the school year.
CHT has four general meetings each year covering topics of interest to HISD educators. Members enjoy complimentary food at each meeting. The annual spring banquet is held each May to honor building representatives, retiring members and scholarship winners.
CHT awards scholarships annually.
Each spring CHT awards scholarships to members who are continuing their professional education as well as scholarships to the children of CHT members who are entering or already attending college.
CHT represents you.
CHT staff is available to respond to your phone calls and e-mails, meet with you, and represent you when necessary. CHT is your voice at monthly consultation and benefits meetings with the HISD administration.
